The North Node in Human Design
The North Node: the direction and environment your life grows toward after midlife.
What does the North Node mean in a Human Design chart?
The nodes of the Moon are not bodies but crossing points: the places where the Moon’s path cuts the Sun’s. In Human Design they set the arc of a life. The North Node names the atmosphere your years curve toward: the themes, settings and company that fit the second half of the story.
Many people feel the turn somewhere near forty, when the chart’s emphasis shifts from the South Node’s familiar ground to the North Node’s open country. Nothing about you changes; the scenery does, and it tends to feel less like a departure than like an arrival.
What is the difference between the personality and design North Node?
Every planet appears twice in a chart. Once in black, from the sky at the moment of birth: the personality side, the part of you that you recognize as yourself. And once in red, from the sky when the Sun was exactly 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth: the design side, the body’s inheritance, running whether you notice it or not. Each activation marks a gate and a line, and those small numbers are where a chart stops being a diagram and starts being a portrait.
Where does the North Node sit in your chart? Gate, line and side, computed from your exact birth moment.
