Finding your time
The long form of your birth certificate usually records the time; the short form often does not. Your birth hospital’s records department can sometimes retrieve it, a baby book may have it written in a parent’s hand, and family memory is better than nothing: even “around dinner time” narrows the windows above considerably. When you find it, the full chart is waiting, and it takes half a minute.

Can you read a Human Design chart without a birth time?
Partly, and honestly. The slower-moving planets hold their gates for days at a stretch, so a good share of a chart, often the Type, many gates, whole channels and centers, holds at every moment of the birth day. This page computes all of it for your date and shows you exactly which parts hold all day and which depend on the minute.
Why does the birth time matter in Human Design?
Three reasons. The Sun moves about one line per day, and your Profile is built from Sun lines, so the Profile usually shifts during the day. The Moon crosses two or three gates in 24 hours. And the Design side of the chart is calculated from a moment about 88 days before birth, which moves with the birth minute as well. The other planets move more slowly, so most of their activations hold.
