Your inner authority is the part of your design built to make decisions: not the smartest part, the most reliable one. The mind is a brilliant advisor and a terrible boss; authority is what hands the final say back to the body.

Working with it

In practice: build the delay in. “Let me sleep on it” is a policy, not an excuse. Check the decision at a high, at a low, and somewhere in between; the truth is whatever survives the whole wave. The urgency you feel is almost always someone else’s.
