Human Design Inner Authority

Lunar Authority

Your authority is time itself: a full lunar cycle (about 28 days) around any major decision, noticing how it feels as the moon moves through your openness.

Your inner authority is the part of your design built to make decisions: not the smartest part, the most reliable one. The mind is a brilliant advisor and a terrible boss; authority is what hands the final say back to the body.

How do you make decisions with Lunar Authority?

In practice: give big decisions a month by the calendar, not by feel. Track how the question sits as the Moon moves through your openness, and talk it through with people you trust. Whatever is still standing after a full cycle is yours.

What does Lunar Authority feel like from the inside?

Your authority is not a center in the body; it is the Moon itself. With all nine centers open, no fixed internal voice stays constant enough to hand your big decisions to, and this is not a flaw to compensate for: it is the design of the rarest type, and it comes with the largest instrument in the sky. Every 28 days the Moon walks the entire wheel, lighting your chart differently each day in a sequence that repeats exactly. Over one full cycle you get to be, briefly, every version of yourself. That parade of perspectives is your authority.

So the rule for the decisions that matter, the home, the work, the partnership, the leap, is to give them a lunar cycle. Not as a delay but as a hearing: the question deserves to be seen by all your weather before it is answered. Live alongside it for the month. Talk about it, without asking to be steered, with people you trust; notice how it sits on the days you feel expansive and the days you feel thin. What holds steady beneath a changing moon, what you still recognize as yours on day 26 the way you did on day 2: that is the answer.

Keep the practice proportionate, or it becomes a cage: dinner does not need a lunar cycle, and neither does most of a Tuesday. The month belongs to the doors that are hard to walk back through: signing, moving, marrying, leaving, beginning. For those, mark the calendar the day the question arrives, revisit it deliberately at the quarters, and let everything smaller be decided lightly, in company, in good places. A Reflector who reserves the big instrument for the big questions gets both: a nimble daily life and an almost unerring record on the choices that shaped it.

The social half of the practice is refusing to apologize for it. The surrounding culture treats decision speed as a virtue and a month as an eternity, and people will push. Say it without flinching: “I don’t do big decisions quickly; I’ll have your answer on the 30th.” The ones worth binding your life to will wait, and the pressure of the ones who won’t is itself an answer. You are not slow. You are thorough in a dimension most people cannot see, and the results, over a lifetime, argue for themselves.

A cycle-keeping practice turns this from folklore into engineering: a few lines in a notebook each evening, and within two or three months you will see your own lunar pattern, the days that are reliably clear, the days that reliably wobble. And through the waiting, tend the one lever that changes everything for your design: place. The right environment does not just comfort you; it filters what plays through you while you decide. A Reflector deciding in a healthy place, on a full cycle, is one of the least deceived beings in the whole system.

How common is Lunar Authority?

We measured this ourselves rather than repeat the numbers every site copies from every other site: of 100,000 charts computed for random birth moments spread across a century, about one in 100 carried Lunar Authority. Whatever the share, the count is company, not a ranking. The full tables and the method live in How common is your design?
