Line 2 · Service · needs met by meeting needs
You secure your place by tending the group’s basics. That exchange is honest as long as it’s chosen. Serve from agreement, not from fear of exclusion. Check the exchange yearly: is the tending still voluntary, still valued, still returned in kind? Service from agreement builds a home; service from anxiety builds a debt nobody acknowledges.
Line 3 · Dedication · wanting that works for it
The need is real, so this line gets practical about earning its meeting. Effort aimed at genuine needs rarely embarrasses itself. Keep the work proportionate; not every want is a need. Sort the two ruthlessly and fund needs first; wants are negotiable luxuries wearing urgent costumes. The dedicated effort that secures the essentials buys calm no luxury ever delivered.
Line 4 · Teamwork · needs bind the group
Shared needs are the oldest glue. You feel where the tribe’s bonds want tending, and you tend them. That sensitivity is leadership, even when nobody calls it that. Name the glue-work occasionally so it can be shared: the check-ins, the welcomes, the noticing. Bonds tended by one invisible person fray when that person tires; bonds tended by a taught team hold.
Line 5 · Sacrifice · don’t overpay for belonging
This line can trade too much of itself for acceptance. Belonging bought with self-erasure never feels like home. The tribe worth joining takes you whole. Watch for the discount reflex: the opinion swallowed, the preference waived, the smallness performed for acceptance. Each one teaches the group to expect less of you and offers less of you to be loved.
Line 6 · The recluse · needs simplified
The mature line wants less, on purpose. It has seen the cost of endless wanting and trims to essentials: real warmth, real bread, real people. Simplicity here isn’t poverty; it’s arrival. Keep the trimmed life warm rather than austere: fewer wants, fully savored. The recluse of this line is not fleeing people but hosting the few real ones better, at a table finally quiet enough for actual company.
